Ashland, Oregon is a town of 21,000 that has a lot in common with other small towns across America. It also has qualities that make it truly unique. Home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Southern Oregon University, people from various backgrounds and places have chosen to call Ashland home. As a photographer, I thought it would be a worthwhile project to document the varied aspects of Life in Ashland.

The Social Knitwork
This congenial group was gathered in the coffee house above Bloomsbury Books where they meet every Wednesday for a session of needlework and lively conversation. When I asked them to pause for
a moment while I took the picture, one said, "The hard part will be to get us all to stop talking!" And when I asked if their group had a name, they replied that they really didn't have one. Then another jokingly suggested, "We could be the 'knitwits'!" before quickly adding, "On no - don't put that!"
Too late - I admire a great pun.
