Ashland, Oregon is a town of 21,000 that has a lot in common with other small towns across America. It also has qualities that make it truly unique. Home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Southern Oregon University, people from various backgrounds and places have chosen to call Ashland home. As a photographer, I thought it would be a worthwhile project to document the varied aspects of Life in Ashland.

Pink, Paneling & Panache
On the way back from Portland this past Sunday, my wife and I pulled off Interstate 5 to look for a place to have lunch. In the town of Cottage Grove we found a small restaurant specializing in barbecue, where we stopped despite my misgivings about the rustic appearance and bright pink exterior. Initially, we were the only customers until another couple showed up toward the end of our meal. Here, they're sitting in the pink naugahyde-covered booths perusing the pink 4-page menus. The food was good - although we'd been spoiled by a great weekend of culinary exploration in Portland.
