My friend Shady, the cosmetologist (don't call him a barber!), planted this palm tree (he's a transplanted surfer from California) a few years ago in the front yard of his shop/home. This trachycarpus (the botanical name) has endured and thrived despite many a sub-freezing night and snowfall. Here it stands this morning after last night's dusting.
