When Richard Straub bought this 1950 Studebaker Champion 7 or 8 years ago, it looked nothing like it does today. He restored the car, if not to its original glory, to something that garners a LOT of attention. The paint color he chose was not a Studebaker finish, but one Ford used in 1956 for the T-Bird called "Fiesta Red". The car is powered by an engine that came out of a Chevrolet police cruiser and the front seats are from a Pontiac. Richard says Studebaker manufactured only 2,350 Champions that year, so it's unlikely many are still around - certainly none as unique as this one!
Ashland, Oregon is a town of 21,000 that has a lot in common with other small towns across America. It also has qualities that make it truly unique. Home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Southern Oregon University, people from various backgrounds and places have chosen to call Ashland home. As a photographer, I thought it would be a worthwhile project to document the varied aspects of Life in Ashland.
