Ashland, Oregon is a town of 21,000 that has a lot in common with other small towns across America. It also has qualities that make it truly unique. Home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Southern Oregon University, people from various backgrounds and places have chosen to call Ashland home. As a photographer, I thought it would be a worthwhile project to document the varied aspects of Life in Ashland.

Gerard
While I was photographing in the railroad district, Gerard Langer rode by on a bicycle on his way to the Ashland Food Co-op do some shopping. Gerard is a local landscaper and contractor, originally from Mexico who moved to Ashland with his American-born wife a few years ago. He is also a scuba instructor, underwater videographer and eco-tourist guide, having led explorations along the Yucatan Peninsula and elsewhere. He says the aim is to introduce people to the wonders of the natural environment and foster a respect for it.
