Wendell Childs

Wendell Childs and his wife have lived on this small farm just outside Ashland for 54 years.  Every year, he grows a crop of corn on the patch of land where he's standing.  I found him preparing the roughly 30' x 60' plot for this year's planting.  He said last year the stalks reached nearly 12' high and produced so much that he and his wife "had corn growing out of our ears!"  What they don't eat they give to friends and to a local food bank.  Before I left, Wendell told me to make sure I got a picture of the tulips his wife planted in the front yard of their home.
