Ashland, Oregon is a town of 21,000 that has a lot in common with other small towns across America. It also has qualities that make it truly unique. Home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Southern Oregon University, people from various backgrounds and places have chosen to call Ashland home. As a photographer, I thought it would be a worthwhile project to document the varied aspects of Life in Ashland.

Moving-In Day
Ashland is largely populated by people who moved here from somewhere else. I've met a very few who were actually born in this town. Californians began moving up here in greater numbers after WWII and there seems to be an influx of mid-westeners and east-coasters recently. As national publications and tv shows keep placing Ashland on "Best Places" lists and retiring baby boomers seek a relatively mild climate and small-town ambience, the trend will only continue. Here, movers unload a truckload for someone relocating here from Michigan.
