A pre-Halloween event each October is the "Monster Dash", a race through Lithia Park for runners of all ages. Part of the festivities is a Costume Contest held at the bandshell. Afterwards, competitors - many in Halloween get-up, including parents pushing baby strollers - take part in a fun run through the park. It's held as a fund-raiser on behalf of the Ashland Schools Foundation.
