Ashland, Oregon is a town of 21,000 that has a lot in common with other small towns across America. It also has qualities that make it truly unique. Home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Southern Oregon University, people from various backgrounds and places have chosen to call Ashland home. As a photographer, I thought it would be a worthwhile project to document the varied aspects of Life in Ashland.

Big Al's Tennis Tournament
For 37 years, Al Carver has been hosting and running the annual Big Al's Tennis Tournament here in Ashland. Big Al's is a restaurant that Al opened back in the 1970's, serving a basic all-American fare of burgers and fries, milk shakes, etc. While Al sold the restaurant a few years ago, he still lends his name and effort to keeping the tournament going. This past weekend, 160 participants from all over the map enjoyed competing over a three-day period in near-perfect weather. Here Al poses with two trophy winners from Chico, California.
