Festival of Light Parade

Every Friday after Thanksgiving, the Festival of Light Parade and Grand Illumination takes place downtown Ashland.  A short procession of holiday-themed floats, including one carrying Santa and Mrs. Claus in a sled, ferries down Main Street to the Plaza - where Santa presides over the switching on of thousands of lights on buildings and trees along the Plaza. As the parade makes it way down the street, a large crowd (the one you see here) follows it to its Plaza destination. Spectators gaze down from windows along the route - including guests staying at the Columbia Hotel and a lady and antlered friend in the Elks Lodge Building.

  1. Nice scenes, the top image works in spite of (if not because of) the little bit of blur - intense colors and lights and a moving crowd. The last shot is pretty funny, especially with the guy looking in the direction of the elk and the lady standing at the window...
