Crater Lake

My wife and I drove up to Crater Lake National Park yesterday and spent the night at the Lodge. In planning the trip earlier this week, we hadn't anticipated an early snowfall that would dump 8 inches along the crater rim the night before our arrival.  I took this shot shortly after sunrise this morning.

Below is another view of the lake, taken yesterday afternoon. It's just under a 100-mile, 2-hour drive from our home in Ashland. The crater and the lake it holds measures 5 miles by 6 miles and is 1,949 feet at its greatest depth. The water comes entirely from rain and melted snow.
