Ashland, Oregon is a town of 21,000 that has a lot in common with other small towns across America. It also has qualities that make it truly unique. Home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Southern Oregon University, people from various backgrounds and places have chosen to call Ashland home. As a photographer, I thought it would be a worthwhile project to document the varied aspects of Life in Ashland.

Bear's Lair
The house my friend Barry ("Bear") has been building over the past year is now finished. He used an alternative construction process called Econest, which includes clay, straw and timber framing. Whenever he was able, he used salvaged wood and natural materials in building as "green" as possible. Stucco was applied on the exterior and the floors are made of poured concrete over a radiant heating piping system. Solar panels provide electricity and heat the water. Needless to say, Barry is happy it's done and totally stoked with the results of his hard work.
