As idyllic as Ashland seems to be at times, there are problems that exist here as in any other place. Hunger in America has been steadily rising and more people are in need of food to survive. The Ashland Food Project is tackling that issue head-on with an all-volunteer effort - collecting these green bags filled with food donated by people every two months. The bags are taken to the food bank where community members help unload and sort (see photo above) then store the items in the warehouse. The emptied bags are folded up and given back to the donators who fill them again over the course of the next two months when they're picked up again. Each donating household generally is given one bag to fill.
