Ashland, Oregon is a town of 21,000 that has a lot in common with other small towns across America. It also has qualities that make it truly unique. Home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Southern Oregon University, people from various backgrounds and places have chosen to call Ashland home. As a photographer, I thought it would be a worthwhile project to document the varied aspects of Life in Ashland.

Weekend Welder
One of my neighbors spent his Sunday happily welding away on the frame for a small travel trailer he's building. It's called a teardrop trailer, called that because of its shape, and is just big enough to accommodate a queen-size mattress and a small space for cooking. With rising gas prices, the smaller size and weight of these trailers is attractive to RV'ers. My neighbor sold the first one of these he built and is now working on his second. The act of welding, he says, is quite rewarding and "feels almost like alchemy."
