On Top of the World

Today I rode along with my friends Chuck and Shady, who were driving up to Mt. Ashland to do some skiing.  The Mt. Ashland Ski Resort is closing down for the season, open only for two days a week this time of year.  The irony is that right now the conditions couldn't be more ideal for skiing and snowboarding.  A 96" base, 134" at the top of the mountain (7,500 ft. elevation) and relatively warm temperatures (High 30's, low 40's).  Since the lifts were closed, Chuck and Shady hiked up to the top, ON their skis.  Took more than an hour to hike up, 10 minutes to ski down.  Had the entire mountain to themselves.   Here Shady exults in his good fortune.
